A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between HKAC and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Gansu Province to promote bilateral business and investment among the regions of Gansu Province and the Middle East and Southeast Asia through Hong Kong as an international financial and innovation technology hub with the focus of industries of clean energy, advanced manufacturing, sustainability technologies, culture and tourism.
The delegation also visited the 7 MkW Photovoltaics Power Station of the China Resources Power Co., the Innovation and Science Centre in Lanzhou and Smart Manufacturing Base by Hailiang Group Co., one of the leading Chinese solar panel producers. Meetings were held with economic, social, and cultural department representatives.
“The Gansu Province has enormous potential in relation to tourism, trade, and renewable energy. HKAC is not dedicated to Hong Kong and countries abroad alone. It is a vehicle to foster relations with Mainland China. Our successful visit to Gansu Province and its capital, Lanzhou, proves that HKAC knows no boundaries. We are delighted to have developed HKAC as the platform of choice in such a short time,” commented The Hon Jeffrey Lam, GBM, GBS, JP.
“We can say with some pride that HKAC has created in a very short time a global network of stakeholders, investors, and supporters who share our values of reshaping Hong Kong as the financial and business metropolis of choice in East Asia and beyond,” Patrick Tsang commented.
“I was honoured to join the official delegation visit to the Gansu Province, where we gained valuable insights into renewable energy development. As one of the top five provinces in green and clean tech, Lanzhou showcased remarkable achievements, particularly in photovoltaics and wind power. The excursions and knowledge-exchange sessions greatly enriched our company’s knowledge as we aim to bring the latest scientific research and technological advancements from our Hong Kong company and universities to Gansu Province to foster collaboration and collectively drive forward the green energy development on a national level,” commented Jonathan Lamport, CEO of A-Grade Energy Limited.
In conclusion, the HKAC’s inaugural visit to Gansu Province has strengthened bilateral ties and forged collaborations in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and sustainability technologies. The delegation’s engagements with stakeholders and visits to prominent renewable energy facilities display the commitment to global connectivity and knowledge exchange in building a sustainable future, including reinforcing the reshaping of Hong Kong’s role as a global green finance and innovation technology hub.
